Frequently Asked Questions

How is Agile 2 different from Agile?

Agile is 20 years old. It was originally expressed in terms of how a single team should work. But individual teams are not where the challenges are: the challenges are in how large numbers of teams work together, how cross-team and even cross-product issues are dealt with, and the kinds of leadership that are needed in a complex multi-initiative organization. Also, product design, data, and DevOps need to be part of the Agile approach that an organization applies. Agile 2 synthesizes the latest and most effective ideas on all these things.

How do I scale Agile?

Most “Agile scaling frameworks” define processes and roles. Those can be useful; but scaling is actually mostly about defining the right kinds of leadership, pointed at the right issues. Today, issues often cut across organizational boundaries, and you need the right collections of people owning those issues, and that means having many kinds of leadership - organizing leadership, dialectic leadership, thought leadership, and decision-making leadership. Agile 2 Academy teaches these and many more leadership styles, and how they work together at any scale to achieve agility while making sure that important things are not overlooked.

How can my organization become Agile?

Agile frameworks define a target state, but most do not tell you how to get there. For an organization to “be” Agile, its people need to embrace certain behavioral norms and values. What are those, and how do you put those in place? With Agile 2 Academy you learn these norms and values.

For organizations, we also offer a cultural assessment, in partnership with Human Synergistics®, to determine the gaps in your organization’s culture, and how to shift the culture to close those gaps.

How does an Agile organization manage risk?

To be truly agile, an organization must manage risk in real time. This entails an entirely different way of doing things. Attestation is replaced with live risk management. Risk gates are replaced with risk coverage assessment. Agile 2 Academy teaches you how to manage risk while moving at the speeds that are necessary today to be competitive.
